About
Research interests
Philosophy of biology; ethology of reptiles and mammals; anthropology of Vedists and Sufis (building [Vedic temples, Sufic temples], vocalizing [dhrupad & mantra, dikr & wadifa], playing instruments [khayal, taqsim]); mythology (Old/ Middle/ Modern English).
My present work represents an inquiry into the value of the cultivation of particular modes of perception and of the stimulation of particular sensory experiences, by way of a study of Sufic vocal practices. The overarching issue is the relationship between bodily consciousness and bodily activity.
