About
Leszek has an MA in archaeology from the Institute of Prehistory at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (Poland). His thesis, defended in 2008, was entitled "Brzemię seiđr. Oblicza magii w epoce wikingów" (eng. "The Burden of Seiđr. Facets of Magic in the Viking Age").
In 2007-2008 Leszek was granted a one year Erasmus Scholarship at the Universitetet i Oslo (Norway), where he studied Viking archaeology and runology.
Leszek began his doctoral research at the Department of Archaeology, University of Aberdeen in October 2008 under the supervision of Professor Neil S. Price and Dr Peter Jordan.
His main research interests concern Viking and Slavic beliefs and spiritual practices related to the concept of shamanism, the study of motifs and ancient mentalities. He has excavated prehistoric and Late Iron Age sites in Poland (mainly in Wielkopolska, Pomorze Zachodnie and Dolny Śląsk regions) and Iceland (Vatnsfjörđur). In his free time Leszek enjoys participating in Viking reenactment festivals, sword fighting, travelling and skateboarding.
